The short answer

Aigan moves pets in and out of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane door-to-door, flying from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (BOM) and running escorted rail from Mumbai Central and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. High-rise pickups and society clearances are handled as standard. Domestic moves from Mumbai typically run ₹16,000–₹47,000 door to door.

What makes pet relocation from Mumbai different?

  • Mumbai traffic makes distance meaningless. A 22 km run from Worli to Sahar can take 40 minutes or two hours, so we time pickups against the day, not the map.
  • Humidity matters more than temperature here. A 31°C Mumbai afternoon is harder on a snub-nosed dog than a 34°C dry one in Jaipur.
  • This is the most vertical city we operate in. Service-lift access is the single most common cause of a delayed pickup.

Dog transportation services in Mumbai

Dog transportation from Mumbai is planned around two things nobody outside the city takes seriously enough: the service lift and the humidity. A 31°C Mumbai afternoon is harder on a dog than a 34°C dry one inland, because panting cools poorly in saturated air. We move large dogs out of BOM regularly, and between March and May we will not book one into a mid-day hold.

How dog relocation works

Cat relocation services in Mumbai

Cat relocation from Mumbai benefits from the city's flight density: BOM has more daily sectors than almost any Indian airport, so a cat travelling in-cabin has genuine choice of departure time. For hold travel, the humidity caution applies to Persians and Himalayans exactly as it does to snub-nosed dogs. Multi-cat households usually move together by road to Pune rather than flying.

How pets travel from Mumbai: air, train and road

We pick the mode for your pet's breed, size, age and the season, not for our convenience. Here is what each one actually looks like from Mumbai.

Pet transport from Mumbai by air (BOM)

Live animals are accepted at the Air India SATS and Terminal 2 cargo complex at Sahar, 4 hours before departure. We build 100 minutes of drive buffer, more than any other city, because Worli to Sahar is 40 minutes at 5am and two hours at 6pm.

Air transport in detail

Pet transport from Mumbai by train

Escorted rail runs from Mumbai Central, CSMT and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. On the Bengaluru corridor it is about 24 hours, which for an anxious dog or a flat-faced breed is a better journey than a cargo hold even though it is longer.

Train transport in detail

Pet transport from Mumbai by road

The Mumbai–Pune corridor is our highest-frequency road move: four hours door to door, same day, often bookable within 48 hours. Vans also run to Ahmedabad, Surat, Nashik and across Maharashtra.

Which service you need

Door-to-door or airport-to-airport?

Two ways to buy a pet relocation, and the difference is who does the driving and the paperwork. Here is what each one means in Mumbai specifically.

Most people book this

Door-to-door pet relocation

A handler collects from Bandra, Powai, Thane, Navi Mumbai or wherever you are, works around your building's goods-lift window, and drives to the Sahar cargo complex. Given that the lift slot often dictates the whole schedule and the Worli-to-Sahar run swings between 40 minutes and two hours, having one team own both ends is what keeps a Mumbai move on time.

Airport-to-airport pet transport

You bring your pet to the Air India SATS terminal at Sahar and collect at the destination. It saves ₹4,000–₹7,000, and in Mumbai it also means you personally absorb the traffic risk on a fixed acceptance deadline. We are honest that this is the option most likely to go wrong here.

International pet relocation from Mumbai

AQCS Mumbai sits inside the cargo terminal complex at Sahar rather than across the city, which makes inspection and same-day departure genuinely workable here in a way it is not everywhere. The export health certificate is issued within 24–48 hours of departure after a physical inspection. Gulf, UK, US, Canada and Australia are the corridors we run most from BOM.

Documents and health checks for pets leaving Mumbai

Nothing here is optional, and nothing here is quick. This is the chain, and where Mumbai sits in it.

AQCS Mumbai sits inside the Sahar cargo complex rather than across the city, which makes inspection and same-day departure genuinely workable. The export health certificate is issued within 24–48 hours of departure after a physical inspection. Plenty of Mumbai vets write fitness-to-fly certificates, but in this humidity we want a real assessment rather than a signature, particularly for flat-faced and overweight animals.

Documentation & NOC in full

The order matters more than the list. A titre test drawn before the microchip was fitted does not count, and redoing it costs three weeks.

What to be careful about when moving a pet from Mumbai

Three things go wrong on Mumbai moves more than anything else. None of them are difficult to avoid, and all of them are easier to fix three weeks out than three days out.

  1. Confirm the goods-lift window first, then book the flight

Most Mumbai societies restrict service-lift use to set hours and several ban it in morning peak entirely. It is the single biggest cause of a late pickup here. A loaded crate does not go down a narrow residential stairwell safely, so the lift dictates the schedule.

  2. Treat monsoon dates as provisional

Between June and September, sectors cancel at a few hours' notice and the Andheri and Sahar approaches flood before the rest of the city. Every monsoon move should carry a contingency date. If yours does not, ask why.

  3. Humidity is the number that matters, not temperature

For Pugs, Bulldogs, Shih Tzus and Persian cats, Mumbai's humidity closes the window earlier than the thermometer suggests. Ask specifically about hold conditions rather than accepting a general assurance about the weather.

Snub-nosed breeds: Pugs, Bulldogs, Shih Tzus and Persian cats

Humidity, not temperature, is what makes Mumbai hard for snub-nosed pets. Panting cools poorly in saturated air, so a 31°C Mumbai afternoon is harder on a Pug or Persian than a 34°C dry one inland. We will not book a brachycephalic animal into a mid-day hold from BOM between March and May at any price, and we route them to escorted rail from Lokmanya Tilak instead.

Best time to move a pet from Mumbai

Airlines stop accepting live animals above roughly 28–29°C on the ground. These are the windows that actually close in Mumbai.

  • June to September

What bites: Monsoon. Flight delays, waterlogged approach roads and cancelled sectors, sometimes at a few hours' notice.

What we do: Every monsoon move gets a built-in contingency date. We also leave earlier for the airport than the traffic warrants, because the Andheri and Sahar approaches flood before anything else does.

  • March to May

What bites: Humidity rather than raw heat. Brachycephalic breeds struggle at temperatures that would be fine inland.

What we do: We route snub-nosed dogs to escorted rail from Lokmanya Tilak or an early-morning sector, and we do not accept a mid-day hold booking for them at all.

How it actually works here

Flying a pet out of BOM, in practice

The specifics we plan a Mumbai move around. Generic advice is what gets pets turned away at counters.

Where your pet is handed over

Air India SATS / Cargo Terminal 2, Sahar. Live animals are accepted 4 hours before departure for manifest cargo.

The airport run

22 km from most addresses. We build 100 minutes of buffer into every pickup before the acceptance clock starts.

Quarantine office, on site

AQCS Mumbai, Sahar. Located at the cargo terminal complex itself, which makes same-day inspection and departure genuinely workable here in a way it is not everywhere.

Buildings, lifts and gates

Mumbai is the most vertical market we work in, and service-lift access is the single biggest cause of a late pickup. Most societies restrict goods-lift use to specific hours and several will not permit it at all during morning peak. We confirm the lift window a day ahead and plan the pickup around it rather than around the flight, because a crate does not go down a narrow residential staircase safely.

Vets and health certificates

Plenty of Mumbai vets have written fitness-to-fly certificates, but the humidity means a genuine assessment matters more here than a signature. We would rather a vet tell us a Bulldog should not fly in July than have the airline tell us at acceptance.

If flying isn't right

Escorted rail departs from Mumbai Central / CSMT / Lokmanya Tilak. We recommend it for snub-nosed breeds, senior pets and anxious animals regardless of what is fastest.

Why us

Why Aigan for pet relocation in Mumbai

Three things that are true here specifically, not three things every pet transport company in India claims.

01

We plan Mumbai pickups against the day and the weather rather than the distance, with the longest drive buffer of any city we operate in.

02

AQCS access inside the Sahar cargo complex, so international inspection and departure can genuinely happen on the same day.

03

The Mumbai–Pune corridor runs constantly, which means short-notice bookings and multi-pet households moving together in one vehicle.
